y journey took a turn in October 2009 when I was injured during military training. Though my physical abilities were limited, I honed my computer and communication skills. I completed my Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training earning my Information Technology Specialist (25B) certification. Unfortunately, my injury became a permanent and worsening disability and led to my Honorable discharge from the U.S. Army (National Guard) in June 2012.
I knew early in my military career that IT wasn't my future. And I've been an animal lover my entire life. So, in March 2010, I began volunteer veterinary assisting at a local small animal clinic. |
That's where I found my passion for saving animal lives. The part that drew me in the most was helping pet owners take the best care of their pets as they possibly could. Teaching them and guiding pet parents gave me great satisfaction in my job 15 years (retired September 1, 2025).

But, veterinary assisting is hard work. It's taxing on both the body and the mind. As the years went on, I began to feel the weight of my position. I knew I would soon have to pursue a less physically demanding alternative.
In June 2023, I discovered I could combine my lifelong love of writing and storytelling skills with my passion for helping animals and the people that care for them. After writing over 100 blogs for A-Z-Animals (my first professional writing contract) budget cuts led to mass layoffs. It was time for something new. |
I've helped treat all sorts of animals, including this Marmoset, BooBoo.

Undeterred, I founded Rachael Monson Writing in December 2023.
Since then, I've crafted compelling blogs and articles on a wide range of animal-related topics, showcasing my proficiency in SEO and content writing. My dedication to meeting deadlines while maintaining high quality and accuracy is unquestionable. I've been praised for bringing stellar increases in traffic and creating trust in readers.

What sets me apart in the world of animal content writers is my genuine love for all creatures, whether they roam the wild or snuggle at home. I have a special fondness for cats — wild, domestic, big or small! I also love canines from your average pet dog to incredible wolves howling to the moon and foxes chattering in the night.
This innate curiosity about the natural world has been with me since childhood, and despite physical challenges due to disabilities, my determination to help animals will never waver. |
Writing from my cozy home, shared with my amazing husband. We spend downtime with our pets: our beloved Bengal cat, Citrine and our adorable Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Harley.
I find joy in simple pleasures like reading, coloring, and playing video games. These hobbies often inspire my writing, adding a personal touch to my work.
